With fall in the air, it's time for the mullet migration. They are here in force. Large school's of mullet have made their way into Florida bay and surrounding keys waters. Following them are the usual suspects! Tarpon, snook, spinner sharks, and jacks to name a few. The action  has been red hot!The fall also opens the doors to some fantastic migratory species, including my favorite, the cobia! They will be on the markers on the edge of the bay. These big brutish fish fight hard and are great for eating. The Spanish mackerel have also showed and will reside all winter. Chumming in the gulf for these fighters can be exciting! The bite gets hectic for those who like nonstop action! Mixed in with these are lady blue fish, blue fish and sea trout. Large spinner shark speed on these schools of fish.Spinner sharks are top notch game an inshore version of the mako! In the creeks and around the cape, large red fish and black drum are here both can be found in a large size, I catch up to 40 pounds in the winter! Triple tail will be on the car bouts, they are great eating and hard fighting on light tackle! So book a trip it's a great time of year!

Thank you for your support in 2016, looking forward to an awesome new year. Stay safe this evening and please give me a call to set up your next adventure on the water. 305-896-1507.

Islamorada Winter Fishing Report

With the Winter season in full swing we are catching a variety of fish inshore and around the Gulf. Inshore, the snook and redfish are working the edges of the mangroves following the schools of bait traveling. Live bait or a well placed artificial bait will work perfect to get hooked up. Near the Gulf we are finding tripletail around the crab buoys and landing them with a live shrimp. The cobia are sight fished just like the tripletail and both make for excellent table fare. Black drum and permit can be caught off the wrecks and deep channels of the FL Bay. I have done a few offshore trips where we are catching snapper and grouper. Grouper season ends this month, so lets get your trip booked to get a few in the cooler! Happy Holidays!
